Job references attached by the seafarer

That's right, it is very important to attach this type of references called "job references". If you don't have one, don't worry as these are not the only requirements determining BLINK LEVEL or your chance of getting a job.

References referring shipboard jobs in the yachting sector are the most important. References of different types do not increase your BLINK LEVEL but they are useful to complete your profile and help shipowners or/and their representatives to be familiar with you.

Of course, you can attach your references whenever you want. You can even attach reference obtained outside YACHTBOOK. Your BLINK LEVEL will be increased.

The job references you attach will be posted on your CV CARD but they can only be viewed by those employers interested in your profile. The YACHTBOOK references, on the other hand, will only be posted on your profile if they are positive and are subject to the same visibility criterion. Only your positive references can be seen as shown in the key next to your CV CARD BLINK LEVEL.

After a verification the document might have considered not very reliable. References must comply with the following standard:

  • They must be written by a company manager, a shipowner or a captain
  • They must provide the ship name and / or the shipowner’s company details
  • They must always provide the writer’s contact details.

For references given by heads of departments (chief mate, chief stew, etc.), we reserve the right to individually evaluate and credit them based on such criteria as the type of yacht, tonnage, number of crew members, CV CARD of the seafarer, etc.
