Yes, registered seafarers on YACHTBOOK use our services for free.

No, our company does not ask for money from hired seafarers and will not withhold any percentage. For seafarers there are no costs, no fees of any kind by subscribing to this portal.

There are requirements to register on YACHTBOOK, if you do not meet one of the requirements listed below your registration will not be accepted.

Requirement no. 1: To be registered on YACHTBOOK you must have at least the basic certifications of Basic Training in accordance with the STCW 78 / 95-2010 convention (Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping for Seafarers).

Basic training STCW 78 / 95-2010:

  1. Training Course on Personal Safety and Social Responsibilities (PSSR).
  2. Basic firefighting course.
  3. Survival and rescue course.
  4. Elementary first aid course.

Requirement no. 2: The registrations of seafarers working in the yachting sector can also be accepted as long as they prove to have different licenses and / or certifications of basic maritime training such as the Nautical License, RYA Yachtmaster ™ Courses, Power Boat Level 1/2 or other. This type of candidate can only apply to job offers for private boats where the owner has declared that STCW certifications are not necessary.

The system will ask you for some information to create an anonymous CV CARD which will be uploaded on our portal and can be viewed free of charge by anyone. Shipowners or their representatives interested in your profile will be able to download your CV CARD and contact you, or you can apply for their job offers posted on our website in order to be contacted.

No, your personal information will never be posted but will be sent to shipowners who will download your CV CARD by activating it (activating your CV CARD is a prerogative at the owner's discretion). Besides, a shipowner who is interested in your profile can receive your details in order to contact you for a job offer.

No, you only need to assert you have them. You can still attach your files and/or certifications if you want, but it is not important.

Captains, crew recruiters, ship owners and anyone who has posted a job offer will be able to contact you. In addition, your anonymous CV CARD will be visible on our portal for free by anyone, thus anyone interested in your profile may decide to register on the site and download your card to contact you.

You will be able to apply for boarding offers only when your profile matches the boarding job, for example if you are registered on YACHTBOOK as first officer, you cannot apply for a Chief Steward job offer. The system automatically notifies your application and the shipowner, after reading your confidential information, decides whether to activate your contact and see your complete CV CARD. Once this operation is completed you will receive an email with a boarding offer and the shipowner's personal data and contact details.

In periods where the job offer is low, YACHTBOOK facilitates work for seafarers. In these cases, you will receive e-mails inviting you to send your "CV" to the employers.

YACHTBOOK, also works through crew recruiters who work directly on the field (TAILOR-MADE SEARCH). In this case, the company uses the completed and updated profiles of the seafarers registered on this portal.

The photos displayed on the homepage are from a new registered users or from those who have modified their account. 

To protect the interests of our members, both seafarers and shipowners, and to make sure our website works properly we do not post uncompleted, unclear CVs, we do not trust cv filled without following our procedures. You should check your account and if your cv has mistakes and /or missing parts.

If you have contacted shipowners, captains or/and recruiters finding any sort of irregularities listed below, please let us know immediately sending an email to info@ycrew.com, with the number application, date of posting, your complete personal information and the registration number.

Here are the irregularities you can report:

  1. Inaccurate information on the application.
  2. I am working on board and I did not get paid.
  3. I am working on board without a regular contract.
  4. The employer does not seem to be professional or have enough experience in the yachting industry, he might not be using the site appropriately.
